We the Women Coalition: A Design Protest

JENKINTOWN, Pennsylvania – We the Women is a design coalition made up of female, non-binary and female-identifying graphic designers addressing the issue of women’s rights in the United States.

Designers and organizers, Michele Cooper and Kelly Holohan, asked women designers to contribute their talents in the form of poster designs. Each designer’s unique perspective is represented in the collection and is a response to the attacks on women’s rights.

“Our goal with this collection is to focus on the female voice and, during this uncertain time in America’s history of women’s rights, capture the female perspective,” Cooper stated.

The designers reside in different parts of the country and represent a broad range of diversity.

Co-founder Holohan said, “We are witnessing an outright war on women’s rights. Born from this frustration, we decided to use our skills as artists and designers to amplify visual voices surrounding these issues.”

The coalition hopes to create more general awareness around women’s rights through the sale of the posters and possibly exhibitions.

The announcement of the coalition coincides with the launch of the website ( which will make 37 poster designs available to the public for purchase. Proceeds from the sales of the posters will go to Ultraviolet, a powerful community of one million people across the country working to improve the lives of women and girls of all identities, and all people impacted by sexism, by disrupting patriarchy and creating a cost for sexism.
